Seeks action against Govt Officials in Kargil

Srinagar August 16 (KNIO) : The J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) today expressed serious concern over the interference in onging LAHDC (Kargil) elections by some Govt officials in Kargil and sought strict action against them inorder to ensure free and fair elections.

The Party also blamed Govt official for campaigning in favour of PDP Candidate. in the backdrop of the complaint received, the J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Vice President & MLC Gulam Nabi Monga wrote to Governor Shri. N. N. Vohra apprising him about the interference in ongoing elections in LAHDC Kargil by some Govt Officials linked to PDP Candidate Kachoo Shameem and sought his intervention to put an end undemocratic process.

The Copy of the complaint has also been forwarded to Chief Electoral Officer (J&K) for initiating action against these official indulging in electoral process. Monga in his letter appealed to Shri Vohra to take cognizance of the matter and initiate actions against them (Govt Officials), reportedly having relation with the Kachoo Shameem, who is fighting elections against INC Candidate Mr. Zakir Hussain from Shakar Constituency.

Monga also appreciated the Independence Day Speech of Shri. Vohra, in which Governor has announced that elections to Panchayats and ULBs will be conducted in the State of J&K very shortly and said Congress Party is ready to participate in these elections process , but at the sametime Monga emphasized that the elections must be free, fair and transparent without any political interference, he added and said that holding free and fair LAHDC (Kargil) elections will go a long way in restoring confidence of the people in the electoral process in the State.
